By Heather Marks
SuAndi OBE will be performing her brilliant play, The Story of M, at The Bernie Grant Arts Centre on Thursday 12 October 2017. This is a rare chance to watch the play performed by none other than the author herself.
The Story of M is a powerful play of one mother’s tenacity to bring up her children with a sense of pride in their Nigerian heritage amidst the virulently racist society of 1960s Britain. Commissioned by the Institute of Contemporary Arts in 1994, The Story of M is not only an homage to SuAndi’s mother, but a compelling piece of black feminist theatre, and has received critical acclaim both in the UK and the US.
We are very proud to announce that Heather Marks, one of the first students to graduate from the Masters in Black British Writing, will be performing alongside SuAndi, in the role of the Nurse.
When: Thursday 12 October 2017, 1.30pm and 7.30pm
Where: The Bernie Grant Arts Centre, London, N15 4RX
